normally i'd use eucalyptus oil, but it dissolves rubber too.

Posted: Thu Nov 17, 2011 12:55 pmChewy on your tyres - that's no good! I've heard that freezing chewing gum helps - makes it hard and can then be chipped or broken off. Try ice cubes maybe...I think you need to hold the ice on for quite a while though and then scrape off with a flat edged butter knife. Good luck!

Posted: Wed Jun 12, 2013 1:43 pmHi, I've used petrol, WD40, orange oil, kero, with no problems. Tyres shouldn't be damaged by kero, orange oil, eucalyptus oil but beware of using thinners as it can dry rubber out and promote cracking.
I hate chewing gum on my tyres too as it gets on your hands, clothes, car, every-bloody-thing!
It is getting better though as 20 years+ ago it was a major street problem. You can't keep your eyes on the pavement just in front of your chair all the time. Shopping Centres are the worst as you tend to be looking at shops and people more.
